Lanzarote ... Island of Fire
Lanzarote has the largest number of extinct volcanoes in all the Canaries. Because of this, there are plenty of exciting excursions for the keen explorer, ranging from the Lava Fields of the Timanfaya National Park in the east, to the breathtaking clifftop views of the island of Graciosa from 'Mirador del Rio' on the north coast. For surfing & windsurfing fanatics, the north west coast offers both experts and beginners ideal conditions with world class beach breaks or fast shallow reefs that can equal almost anywhere in the world. The main resort is Puerto del Carmen which lies south of the island's capital, Arrecife. The village of Charco del Palo is an exclusive naturist village on the north east coast.
